Switch to the sandbox#

On the Developers screen, owners and admins switch between Live and Sandbox. The sandbox is a separate workspace with its own data: every screen works on sandbox data under a banner. It is never billed, and billing and adding numbers are hidden there.

Sandbox keys#

Keys made in the sandbox start with wg_test_ and work only there; live wg_live_ keys never work in the sandbox. The API, webhooks and signatures behave exactly as live.

Test contacts#

The sandbox has one fictional number and 5 test contacts: Aisha Rahman, Ben Carter, Chen Wei, Diego Morales and Priya Nair, on +1 555 012 0001 to 0005.

• Messages you send to a test contact are accepted and get sent, delivered and read ticks.
• Test contacts never reply on their own: send a message as one from the Sandbox tools on the Developers screen. It arrives through the same inbox, rules, Activity and webhooks as a real one.
• You can also change the number's state there; each change fires the same session events a real number would.
• Reset sandbox deletes every sandbox message, key, webhook and setting and starts again with 5 fresh test contacts. Live is not touched.
